Bar Harbor's Walk Through Time - Guided History Tour of LaRochelle Mansion & the Village

Maine History Tour - Bar Harbor

Ever wonder how American's wealthiest turned Bar Harbor into a national treasure? Why Rockefeller chose Acadia to develop over 50 miles of carriage trails? How the great fire of 1947 wiped out half of the town and how it rebuilt?

This 2-2.5 hour walking tour will begin at LaRochelle Mansion on West Street owned by the Bar Harbor Historical Society. LaRochelle is one of the few brick houses on Mount Desert Island, originally built in 1903 with 20 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms! You'll get an up-close look into the Gilded age as you tour the mansion before hitting the streets with your experienced guide.

This tour is not for those with mobility issues. The walk is a leisurely pace, stopping and sightseeing for 2 miles.
